Beauty day with abundant wildlife including the J16’s!
I hate to admit it, but we have been super spoiled. Our luck with whale sightings has been fantastic. We like to say here at Western Prince that we have no control over wildlife or weather. We operate each trip trying to make it the best as possible given whatever card mother nature deals us.
Today in Cattle Pass in a strong ebb tide, we had Steller Sea lions just about everywhere you could look. Some were hunting in the current, some were sunning themselves on a rock. We even watched one rip apart a dogfish shark. We made our ways towards the orca sighting and were pleasantly delayed when we found a group of playful Dall’s porpoise! We spent a nice length of time with part of J pod, a family group known as the J16’s before heading back to Friday Harbor.
