Our day started with an abundance of sunshine with hardly any wind. What a wonderful way to start a trip! To make the day even better we had a report of Killer whales (J17s and J22s) pretty far south of San Juan Island. We got off the dock in Friday Harbor as quick as we could to increase the chances of getting to see those orcas. Despite them continuing south, we still caught up with them at the mouth of Admiralty inlet. The whole way down we enjoyed the views of the various mountains that were all out. Mt Baker was present the majority of the trip, the Olympic mountain range, and we even got a good view of Mt Rainier! When we caught up with the J17s and J22s, they were grouped up, traveling slow and doing a little socializing. We got to see a few tail lobs and a couple spyhops! We then made our way back to Friday Harbor stopping to see the amazing Steller sea lions, Harbor seals, and several Bald eagles at Whale rocks. Just another fantastic adventure in the Salish Sea! It is truly a mystery as to what kind of adventure we will have, no two trips are the same! The best part is that this is just the beginning of the season and we all can’t wait to get out there and share the Salish sea with our guests!
