Western Prince II: July 13, 2016

We met up with part of J-pod as they came around Turn Point and headed South.  We had the J19’s pass us with good looks at J-41 (born 2005) and her young male calf J-51who was born in February of 2015.  The whales were spread out hunting for Salmon.  After these two passed we saw J-2 Granny (est. birth date 1911) and L-87 Onyx (born 1992), traveling further off shore.  Near the Stuart Island shoreline, we watched a juvenile orca breach twice!! We followed the whales to Kellet Bluff, then said farewell as they continued south to meet up with more J-pod members.  After our whale encounter, we headed towards Spieden Island where we saw lots of harbor seals with their very young pups, the exotic Mouflon big horn sheep and this sweet Pigeon Guillemot floating in the beautiful reflection of the island.  Another great day on the water!!
