To start off the day with no reports, and end up with an amazing “Biggs” Transient Killer Whale encounter was fantastic!  It was definitely a day of Cloudscapes and Killer Whales.  We started with a great sighting of 4 groups of ~6-8 Harbor Porpoise up near Spieden Island, Bald Eagles were everywhere, then lots of Harbor Seals Hauled out on Sentinel Rock.  Next we headed up to Swanson’s Channel in Canada!  Off the east side of Salt Spring Island we came upon a group of 4 mammal hunting Orca.  I have identified them as T124A (1984), her daughter, T124A1 (1996) and two other offspring T124A3 (2006) and T124A4 (2010).  They travelled for bit then found a Harbor Seal to share as an afternoon snack.  I have marked the picture with the seal just before the whale pulled it under.  There were a couple of lovely spy hops, then they set off traveling in a northerly direction towards Prevost Island.  Then a beautiful ride home to Friday Harbor with lots of amazing scenery along the way.
