The Western Prince Undergraduate Scholarship

Who We Are

We are a Washington-based Whale Watching company determined to provide a unique and educational experience in the San Juan Islands.

With every excursion, the Western Prince team aims to educate our passengers about the wildlife and natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Our hope is that future generations will want to share and protect this region and its inhabitants just like us. That’s why we’ve founded our first ever undergraduate scholarship.

Scholarship Details

This scholarship is specifically geared toward undergraduate students with an interest in marine biology, ecology, environmental studies, or a related field. We will give priority to students pursuing a major in one of those fields but we will consider all applicants.

The value of the scholarship is $500, to be used toward whatever aspect of school you need (textbooks, lab supplies, tuition, etc.) The submission deadline is September 8, 2019. Recipients will be notified by September 15, 2019.

Submission Requirements

We ask that all applicants submit a digital copy of their unofficial transcript, as well as responses to the following prompts.

  1. In 250-400 words, describe why you stand out as a student, citizen, and candidate for this scholarship.
  2. In 600 words or less, tell us what you plan to do with your degree after graduation. What is your dream job, company, or industry, and why?

Applicant must be a full-time student attending an accredited university or community college in the United States or Canada for the 2019-2020 school year.
