WHALE WATCHING NATURALIST/OFFICE
Desired Attributes:
- Passion for wildlife and the marine environment
- Friendly and outgoing
- Punctual
- Ability to multi task while maintaining a positive attitude
- Adventurous spirit
- Able to work well individually and as part of a team
- Eagerness to learn
Desired Experience:
- Naturalist experience or very similar
- Excellent marine ecosystem knowledge
- Customer service experience
- Boating experience
Job Description:
Office Duties:
- Low pressure sales (tours and retail)
- Answer 2-line phone system single handedly
- Process online reservations and answer emails professionally
- Greet and check-in passengers cheerfully
- Answer questions competently
- Restock and tidy retail space
- Serious multitasking
Naturalist Duties:
- Perform 1st mate duties on either whale watching vessel (safety orientation, line handling, etc.)
- Assist in boat set up before the trip and cleaning after the trip
- Responsible for passenger safety and comfort
- Convey ecosystem information to small groups in an engaging way
- Competently answer questions about the Salish Sea and the wildlife that lives here
