Humpbacks and Orcas by Friday Harbor

Humpbacks and Orcas by Friday Harbor

September 10, 2025 – It’s been such a beautiful weather week, and we got the best of it on this trip! Heading east from Friday Harbor, through the inner island, we started the trip with an incredible encounter with the Bigg’s killer whale family known as the T137s. This family of four immediately began a hunt as soon as we were with them. There were large lunges, tail lobs, and even a half breach from T137A “Jack”! After, they continued and we had a wonderful pass from T137 “Loon” and her two daughters, T137B “Tempest” and T137D “Wright”. After leaving the killer whales, we headed south to see some steller sea lions and even spotted a humpback whale along Salmon Bank! This whale was BCZ0345 “Victory” and at one point, her surfacing lined up perfectly with the Cattle Pass Lighthouse in the background! A double whale species day!
