What an incredible encounter we had today! There has been a large group of Bigg’s (transient) Killer whales in the area and we were fortunate to have seen them again today. Several matrilineal groups as well as a couple lone males were all hanging out and having quite the social mixer. The entire time we watched from a distance, they were very active. Breaching, spyhops, tail lobs, and generally rolling around activity. It is something quite amazing to see these incredible hunters take sometime off from being stealthy to bond and play. We also got to check out the Harbor seals in the area, who were safe for the time being. As well as Bald eagles before we headed back to Friday Harbor.
