The day started with no whale reports, but that quickly changed! We got word that quite a few orcas were coming down from the north and it turns out it was J Pod! We made a couple stops to look at Bald Eagles, Harbor Seals, and some of the exotic game on Spieden Island before heading to the orcas. We caught up with the leaders of J pod just as they came around Turn Point on Stuart Island. We saw watching the procession of whales coming around the corner. They picked up a little speed as they got past the point, but slowed down once reaching Kellett Bluff. They then grouped up a little and became a little active. Blackberry (J27) did 3 big back breaches just before we left for Friday Harbor. Just an incredible day on the water on the Western Explorer.
