What a wonderful day of whale watching in the San Juan Islands! We had the T75B’s and T36A’s off of Skipjack Island this morning. As soon as we arrived with the whales, it became very clear they were making a kill. There are lots of seals that hang out near Skipjack Island and it appeared the orcas were taking advantage of that fact to grab breakfast! We spent an hour with the orcas watching them mill about feeding and socializing. Lots of headstands and tail slaps as the whales circled. After finishing up their meal, the whales caught a strong ebb tide and used it to help carry them across Boundary Pass to the Canadian Gulf Islands. A wonderful morning spent with a very social group of orcas!
