May 3, 2024 – Multiple Groups of Killer Whales

May 3, 2024 – It is special when we have whales close to Friday Harbor and today, that is exactly what happened! A group of Bigg’s Killer Whales known as the T90s were only 10 minutes outside of the Harbor! The noon ferry got a great look as this family of four passed right in front, causing the ferry to come to a complete stand-still! After spending time with them, we continued to another report of some whales in Haro Strait. It was a group of seven whales, the T49As and T19 and T19B. They were calmly traveling into Canadian waters and we got to have several great surfacings with them, including two of the brothers T49A3 “Nat” and T49A4 “Neptune traveling together. We also got to see one of the largest males in the population, TT19B “Galiano” with his massive fin! Overall, another great day on the Salish Sea.
