San Juan Island
San Juan Island is a breathtakingly beautiful and serene place located in the heart of the San Juan archipelago. The island, which is part of the state of Washington, is only accessible by boat or plane, and its isolation has helped to preserve its natural beauty and tranquility.

Getting Here
The easiest way to get to San Juan Island is by ferry. The Washington State Ferries operate daily from Anacortes, a small town located about 80 miles north of Seattle. The ferry ride takes about an hour and a half, and the views along the way are absolutely stunning. Another great option is a Seaplane flight from Renton to Friday Harbor with our friends Friday Harbor Seaplanes.
What to Do
One of the most popular attractions on the island is whale watching. The waters around San Juan Island are home to a variety of whales, including Orca Whales, Humpbacks, Minke Whales and Gray Whales. Of course, the scenery, Harbor Seals, Sea Lions, Bald Eagles, and other marine wildlife are worth the tour alone. We offer an adventure style whale watching tour on the smooth and comfortable Western Explorer II, the only jet boat in the San Juan Islands.
If you’re more of a landlubber, there are plenty of hiking trails on the island that offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The most popular trail is the American Camp Trail, which takes you through the site of an old military camp that was established during the Pig War in the late 1800s.
San Juan Island is also home to several art galleries and studios, as well as a thriving food scene. The island is known for its fresh seafood, and there are several restaurants that specialize in locally sourced ingredients. If you’re looking for something more casual, there are also several cafes that offer delicious meals.
