July 11, 2023 – We had a wonderful trip with Naturalist Katie and Captain Ivan. We encountered two distinct family groups of Bigg’s killer whales. The T37A’s and the T36A’s were in travel mode off the south end of Lopez Island. After a beautiful encounter we continue to Smith Island. We scoured the area and spotted some Tufted Puffins, which is always a special treat here in the summertime. From there we carried on to Eastern Bank were there were loads of birds feeding on bait fish and spotted two Minke Whales in search of that same bait. We finished the trip with a stop at Whale Rocks to see the Steller Sea Lions and Harbor Seals before coming home.
