Whale Report: July 30, 2019 PM – The T65As!

Today we watched the T65A’s, a family group of Bigg’s killer whales, hunting a harbor seal. In one of the pictures, you can see the seal popping up alongside T65A3. After the hunt, which involved lots of tail slaps, the whales swam through the dancing waves created by the current moving over boiling reef. Next, we headed to Skip Jack Island to check out some Harbor Seals and Bald Eagles. One last stop at White Rock wildlife refuge where we saw a Bald Eagle that had a touch of Leucism. The white feathers peppered through the dark brown of the adult eagle could be from this condition which causes a loss of pigmentation in some of the feathers! This was a first for me!
