Today brought unexpected delights! We first caught up with at least 2 Minke whales that were feeding on bait balls in the area. We had one lunge out and twist into a bait ball to the side of us! We continued on to where we had a report of 2 Gray whales. This is not a common sighting around the San Juans and was quite a special treat to see! Though I’ve seen Gray whales on the coast of Oregon, in ten years in the San Juan Islands, this was my first time seeing them here! We also got some looks at Bald eagles and Harbor seals on the way home. Beautiful afternoon on the water!
