Whale Report: June 20, 2023 – T137s

June 20, 2023 PM – We headed off from Friday Harbor up towards Canada. We had a report of a group of Bigg’s Killer Whales very far north. As we got on scene, we got some beautiful views of four fins, one large fin and three smaller fins. We identified the family as the T137s! This family consists of T137 “Loon” and her three offspring, a large male T137A “Jack”, and two females T137B “Tempest” and T137D “Wright”. The family was traveling together, slowly along the shoreline of Saltspring Island. They were in rest mode but with the lighting, we had some absolutely gorgeous views. At one point, the family turned out towards us and as T137 surfaced next to us, she lifted her head up to peek at us! We headed back down towards the San Juan Islands and checked out the beautiful Turn Point Lighthouse as a final beautiful view of a fantastic trip.
