Whale Report: August 28, 2023 – T75Bs and T77D

August 28, 2023 – Today gave us Deja Vu because just one week ago, we were watching the same group of whales in the same exact spot! We left the dock with a report of a group of Bigg’s Killer Whales just south of Friday Harbor in Griffin Bay. It turned out to be a group known as the T75Bs. The family of 6 traveled right past an island known as Dinner Island and stopped briefly to hunt. They quickly moved on and the two younger whales started to get a bit active, playing with each other and rolling around. We got to see a few tail lobs and they even stopped to play with a bird for a bit, grabbing it and tossing the poor bird around! Finally, we had a gorgeous spyhop from T75B4! After spending some time with the family, we continued toward the northern part of the San Juan Islands and spent some time checking out Spieden Island before returning to our dock.
