Western Prince II: October 5, 2016

We left the dock with a report of one humpback up north.  As we headed in that direction we received another report of Biggs (transient) Killer Whales in the same general area.  On our trip north we stopped to see some harbor seals hauled out.  They looked very relaxed compared to the ones we saw later on Java Rocks.  They were very alert as this group of T’s passed by.  Just after this picture was taken the whales must have found a seal, that was not as fortunate as the ones on shore, and made a kill.  They circled for awhile feeding.  They got pretty active with some tail slaps and a great spy hop! After the kill, they headed back to the Saturna Island Shoreline.  So amazing to encounter the T36A’s and T65B’s with this dramatic backdrop.  On the way home we had a short visit the “Heather” one of our local Humpbacks!!
