September 23, 2023 – Today was a very special trip. We got to spend some time with a family of Bigg’s Killer Whales that have not been seen in the Salish Sea in roughly five years! The T28As are a family of four whales consisting of mom T28A and her three children. We found this family calmly traveling along the shoreline of Saltspring Island in Canada and had some lovely looks at the whales with a beautiful, misty forest background. The rain added to the beauty and we even got a few close passes from the family as well! This group of whales is more often seen in southeast Alaska and the northern British Columbia area so it was a treat to have them visit our local area.
