Whale Report: June 10, 2023 – T49A’s in the PNW

June 10, 2023 AM – Today’s trip was a classic pacific northwest kind of day! Gray clouds and rain on the horizon but we still had a wonderful adventure full of wildlife sightings! We started off at Spieden Island where we spotted several herds of Big Horn Mouflon sheep along the shoreline and on the hills. We also spotted several bald eagles including a juvenile perched perfectly on a dead tree. We continued on and caught up with a group of Bigg’s Killer Whales known as the T49As! This family included adult male T49A1 “Noah” and his 4 other siblings and mom. They were traveling along the shoreline of Henry Island before flipping and heading out towards the middle to the channel! We got some great looks at them surfacing together in the rain before heading back to Friday Harbor.
