Whale Report: July 26, 2023 AM – T65Bs

July 26, 2023 AM – We left the dock and headed north with a possible sighting of whales up in Canada.  Our first stop was in the Cactus Islands to look for Bald Eagles, Harbor Seals and one of our favorite marine birds the Pigeon Guillemot.  It was beautiful and we found lots of seals in the Kelp and on the rocks.  The Guillemots we feeding on Gunnel fish and a I got a great shot of two of them as they took flight.  Next we headed up into  Canadian waters where we encountered a family group of Bigg’s (marine mammal eating) killer whales.  This family included T65B who was born in 1993 and her 3 offspring, T65B1, a 12 year old male, T65B2 who was born in 2019 and the youngest T65B3 who was born this spring!  They cruised around near the top of Navy Channel before heading into Georgenson Pass.  By then it was time to head back to Friday Harbor so off we went!
