Whale Report: July 31, 2023 – T137s and T36B

July 31, 2023 AM – As we were getting off the dock in Friday Harbor, we received a report of a group of Killer Whales to the eastern part of the San Juan Islands in Rosario Strait. It ended up being two families of Bigg’s Killer Whales known as the T137s and the T36s for a total of nine whales. We had some wonderful looks at the two families as they traveled together with some beautiful backlit blows and then eventually, Mt. Baker as a backdrop. This was a fun group of whales with several unique dorsal fins like T137A “Jack”, a large male and T36B “TatterTip”. After we left the whales, we got to take the scenic route back to our dock through the inner islands and Wasp Passage. Another great day on the water.
