Another fantastic day in the Salish sea with a large group of Bigg’s Killer whales (transients). We started watching one group, then noticed another group, then another come into the mix! They would be at the surface going every which way for a long time, then they would all go down on long dives. When they resurfaced, the same behavior. Everyone moving in every which way. I figured this large group was just socializing, but that changed. There was a big lunge and then T65A came up with a Harbor porpoise in her mouth! So, perhaps they were doing long dives looking for porpoise and socializing as well. It was just a fun encounter to watch.
