A “northwest” kind-of-day with Orcas and wildlife!

A “northwest” kind-of-day with Orcas and wildlife!

It was a great northwest kind of day on the Western Prince.  We were honored to see Biggs (Transient) Killer Whales T11, a 54 year old female and her son T11A who was born in 1978.  We followed them as they made there way across Haro Strait.  After our encounter with the whales we headed north to look for Harbor Seals and found some hauled out on Sentinel Rock.  Next we made our way along the Spieden Island shoreline with sightings of Bald Eagles, Mouflon rams, ewes & lambs and European Fallow Deer.  Eventually we came across a big group of Steller Sea Lions, with one imposter among them, a California Sea Lion!  This animal gave itself away by the repetitive barking calls and it’s dark brown coat.  The rest of the Sea Lions emitted their low roars as they jostled back and forth with each other.
