My goodness! Was this a pretty amazing encounter! We had multiple whale reports in the area this day and we had to choose which group to go to. Captain Ivan made the final call, and I think he chose wisely! We got to head up in the area near Patos Island Lighthouse where a big reef extends up and over into Canada. Here, the currents can be ripping! This day was no exception. Lots of swirling water and the whales were so interesting to watch in the strong currents. What also made this pretty special was how many Bigg’s Killer whales (transients) were present! We must have had nearly 20 individuals made up of many different pods of transients. We spent a little more time there with the T18’s who broke off from the other groups.
