August 21, 2023 – Today, we got to see all six members of the same Bigg’s Killer Whale family in two different encounters! The T60s is a family of six whales but the two middle sons, T60D “Onca” and T60E “Lynx” often travel separately from the rest of the family. The two boys were in the northern part of the San Juan Islands traveling along the shoreline of Stuart Island. The lighting was gorgeous and we got to see some beautiful, backlit blows. Eventually, the two boys turned out and traveled directly towards us, moving out into Boundary Pass. After spending some time with them, we got another report that the rest of the family, including their mother, T60 “Panthera” were right outside Friday Harbor! We got a quick encounter with them as they traveled THROUGH Friday Harbor!
