Whale Watch Report: June 26, 2019 – Bigg’s Killer whales (marine mammal feeding)

Report from the Western Explorer II:

There were reports of animals within our range, but we heard rumors of another group that hadn’t been spotted yet that day so we decided to search the area. We breezed up into the Strait of Georgia and were rewarded by spotting one of our favorite families of mammal feeding killer whales, the T65As! This family was traveling south when their behavior changed. They began hunting a harbor seal, even knocking out it out of the water. We all thoroughly enjoyed a number of spyhops and some headstands before the family continued traveling. In addition, we had great looks at a bald eagle and a number of more fortunate harbor seals, lounging on some of the more beautiful haulouts in the area.
