Killer Whales Hunting

Killer Whales Hunting

August 8, 2025 – Conditions were beautiful as we made our way north through San Juan Channel towards a potential killer whale report. We made a stop on the north side of Spieden Island for a bald eagle, as well as in the cactus islands for harbor seals. After confirming the report, we made our way up through Canadian waters into Trincomali Channel. Here we found the T65Bs headed north through the channel. After a couple views of them aiming north, they went on a dive and made a rapid direction change and popped up behind our boats. After a few chaotic surfacings of switching directions, it appeared they were on a hunt! It was really cool to see the direction changes of this family working together to hunt and then share their food. Altogether we did a 64 mile trip today! It was well worth it to see the T65Bs hunting in beautiful sunny weather.
