We left the dock trekking south towards a very far report of whales. If they kept coming out direction, it might have worked out. A bit south of Friday Harbor, we got word that the group turned around and were heading away from us. So we changed course and started heading north to join the search for other whales. Then a call came in that our owner/captain Ivan had spotted some orcas from shore! What incredible news! So we turned around again and headed south and west to where these orcas were. This was a group of Bigg’s (transient) Killer whales that we hadn’t seen in some time. It was an unexpected treat to have been able to watch these whales. We also saw Steller sea lions, Bald eagles, and Harbor seals.
