May 19, 2024 – What a wonderful day! We had a fantastic encounter with the Bigg’s Killer Whale family known as the T124As. This family is incredibly energetic with two toddlers aged three and one very active newborn calf! We watched as the family traveled across Haro Strait, rolling, and playing the whole time. Then, just as we were about to leave, the family caught a seal and we had a gorgeous spy-hop from the grandmother of the group, T124A “Kittiwake”. The family turned and headed straight for us, giving us an amazing close couple of passes before moving on. They left a large oil slick from whatever they caught floating around the boat that included bits of blubber that the birds were coming down to clean up! Truly a special trip!
