Whale Watch Report: June 25, 2019 PM – The T46s and T124As!

We encountered 2 different groups of Bigg’s also known as Transient marine mammal-eating Orcas today. We first encountered T124A , a 35-year-old female and 4 of her offspring including T124A1, 124A3, 124A4 & 124A6. They range in age from 2 to 23 years old. They gave us the slip after a couple of surfacing near Smith Island. Next, we found T46 with three of her younger offspring including T46D, 46E & 46F. They ranged in age from 5 to 19. T122 was also with the group. T46 is a great grandmother who was born around 1964. It was a beautiful flat calm day and really fun to watch them as they zigged and zagged around Smith Island. As we headed back to Friday Harbor we found the 124A’s again and also had time to check out some Harbor Seals and Steller Sea Lions on Whale Rocks.
