Beautiful afternoon with the T137s and other wonderful wildlife!

We left the dock with a report of Orcas to the North. Captain Peter headed in that direction, and we caught up with Bigg’s (marine mammal eating) Killer Whales cruising along the bluffs of N. Pender Island in Canada. The group was made up of mom T137 (born 1983) and her 3 offspring, the oldest being T137A a 16-year-old male. He had two nicks in his dorsal fin and was easy to identify. As mom and the younger kids hugged the shoreline, T137A came offshore. Even at 200 yards away he was huge! After leaving the whales we got to explore the waters by the Cactus Islands. Besides the awesome beauty everywhere you looked, we saw Harlequin Ducks, a Bald Eagle, Pigeon Guillemots with their bright red feet and lots of Harbor Seals. Hanging out in the Bull Kelp was fun too. Then is it was back to Friday Harbor we went with smiles on our faces.
