Orcas and a Humpback Whale!

Orcas and a Humpback Whale!

August 22, 2025 – It was a beautiful August day and conditions were flat and calm to the south of the islands. We headed down the channel making a stop for some stellar sea lions hauled out on Whale Rocks. From there we continued to the south and had an incredible encounter with “Victory” the humpback whale. This female was first spotted in the area in 2008 and was seen with her last calf in 2022. She was being super surface active, which is not a given with this whale! After leaving Victory we caught up with the T37As. This family was traveling with only three individuals, mom and two of her children. It was so fun to see T37AA2 “Inky,” a 16 year-old teenage male. He’s been getting a lot bigger the last few years and it’s always fun to see him in person!
