Orcas and Humpbacks in the Fall

Orcas and Humpbacks in the Fall

September 24, 2025 – What a special day today! We began our trip with humpback whales BCX0915 “Fallen Knight” and BCY0195 “Fader” right outside the harbor! We had such a cool encounter while both whales surfaced right next to each other and BCX0915 “Fallen Knight” was raising their fluke out of the water multiple times before going on a dive! As we passed Turn Island we took a pitstop to check out a sea otter doing lots of rolling as it groomed itself. We then caught up with two Bigg’s killer whale families, the T90s and T101s, in Rosario strait. We had some backlit views where we could see their blows beautifully. It was cool to see multiple big males traveling together with their families. On our way back home we made a quick stop to look at harbor seals when our otter friend made a second appearance! It was so special to get a second look at the otter before arriving back in the harbor.
