Blustery Whales

Blustery Whales

June 18, 2026 – We had sunshine today and a bit of wind coming out of the north. When we left the dock, we had a report of whales to the east today. On the way there, we slowed down while we traveled through Obstruction Pass and checked out some harbor seals hauled out on the rocks. Soon, we were off again heading to Bellingham Bay to find the whales. We ended up right off the Bellingham waterfront! It was quite beautiful with Mt. Baker in the background. We had the T123’s, which is one of our favorite family groups. This family of Bigg’s Killer Whales is made up of Sidney, the 41-year-old mother, Stanley, her 26-year-old son, and her two daughters, 14-year-old Lucky and 8-year-old D’Arcy. They were cruising along slowly and then started zigzagging in a very unpredictable fashion. It was fun to watch Stanley surfacing in the windy seas! Eventually, our time was up, and we started our journey back to Friday Harbor after another beautiful and fun trip!
