New Peachy Calf!

New Peachy Calf!

March 29, 2026 – Well today we had a bit of rain and it was chilly out, so we bundled everyone up and headed out on our adventure. The great news for us was that we had Orcas nearby. We headed over to Lopez and encountered the T49A’s by Humphrey Head. We were really excited as this is one of our favorite family groups and we knew that the matriarch, 40 year old Nan-T49A, had been spotted with a new little calf in recent weeks. We got a really good look at T49A7, the peachy little calf as the whales came around Humphrey Head and swam close to shore in dark green water. The calf looks good and most of the time was right next to mom, but at times it surfaced near its 4 other siblings, 15 year old Nat, 11 year old Neptune, 9 year old Nebula and 4 year old Smoosh Face. Nan’s 2 oldest sons, Noah-25 and Jude-18, were not there today as they have dispersed but hook up with the family now and then. The whales did a lot of zigzagging, but Captain Bethany was up to the challenge and did a great job giving us lots of good looks. After seeing the whales we headed up to Spieden and the Cactus Islands to check out the Steller Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, Mouflon Sheep and Bald Eagles! What a day! When we got back to the office Elah had Hot Chocolate to warm us up. It was a perfect finish to a great day! P.S. I included a cute photo of Smoosh Face from a couple of years ago.
