Three Species of Whale!

Three Species of Whale!

May 26, 2026 – We had an action-packed trip with three different species of whales! We started off with a group of killer whales known as the T75Bs that were traveling with siblings T30A “Sequoia” and T30C “Salix”. The whales were slowly traveling and milling together. We had several good looks at adult male “Sequoia” as well as T75B “Pebbles” and her kids. Next, we got a report of two humpback whales further to the north. After an initial 9-minute deep dive, the whales spent several minutes surfacing together and traveling before flaking again. We were able to ID the two humpbacks as BCX1675 “Strike” and BCZ0298 “Split Fin”. While we were waiting for the humpback to surface, we were surprised by a minke whale! It surfaced suddenly right next to us! What a treat to get to see three different species of whales in one trip! The Salish Sea is an incredibly diverse and special place to explore!
