T60s in Sidney Channel

T60s in Sidney Channel

May 22, 2026 – When we first got on scene with this group of Bigg’s Killer Whales, the boats that were already with the whales had reported that they were traveling south past D’arcy Shoals. For the first 10 minutes, we didn’t see any sign of the whales, when suddenly, Naturalist Bethany spotted a fin almost 2 miles away along the shoreline of Sidney Island! The whales had flipped and were traveling north! The family known as the T60s and T69D2 were spread out across Sidney Channel and grouped in pairs, except for adult male T60C “Leo”. We got several great looks at his massive and recognizable fin as he traveled along. After spending some time with the whales, we continued on to check out Spieden Island.
