July 30, 2026 AM – We had a beautiful sunny day to explore so off we went. Our first stop was to check out our newish visitor to our area a Sea Otter. He was chowing down on what looked like some freshly caught scallops! From there we headed east with a report of Bigg’s Killer Whales near Anacortes. On the way we found 2 Bald Eagles on James Island, a load of Harbor Seal on Bird Rocks and one Steller Sea Lion swimming near the seals. From there we crossed Rosario Strait and picked up the whales off Washington Park. They were in slow travel mode in a pretty tight group. It was really cool to see 4 generations of whales in the T36/T36B family group. They included T36 – Flapjack, her second oldest daughter T36B – Tattertip with her 3 offspring Bhotia, Greenfelder and Auk and one grand offspring named Maple. They were traveling with another female, T37A – Volker and her teen aged son, Inky!
