Picture Perfect Day

July 11, 2026 AM – Well it was a picture perfect day! We headed south and checked out the Steller Sea Lions at Whale Rocks first. Then we headed out into the eastern end of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Captain Ivan took a wide search pattern as we looked for a solitary adult male Orca that had been spotted earlier in the day. We did not find him so we headed back to the Salmon Bank area and hooked up with the T123’s. This group of Bigg’s Killer Whales is made up of Sidney, the 41 year old mother, Stanley, her 26 year old son, and her two daughters 14 year old Lucky and 8 year old D’Arcy. They were cruising along slowly and then started zigzagging in a very unpredictable fashion. It was really cool to see them all in flat calm waters with the mountains in the distance including Mt. Rainier! Eventually it was time to leave the whales and look for other wildlife. We found Bald Eagles, Harbor Seals and a Sea Otter before heading back to the dock.
