Double Otter Day!

Double Otter Day!

August 29, 2026– It’s Sister Saturday! Captain Bethany took us over to Turn Reef to check in with my favorite visitor to the San Juans, Alfredo the sea otter! We then continued onto Flattop Island, a National Wildlife Refuge that had a haul out of harbor seals. While we were admiring them, a river otter appeared! It was quite a rare sight at that time of day, and proved to be a bearer of good luck. We continued into Boundary Pass and made a top at Turn Point Lighthouse on Stuart Island. We then heard of a report just east of us, and ended up meeting up with the T49As! We had a lovely time travelling alongside this family of 6, and even had all female captains on scene!! After a really nice hour with this group we continued back over the top of Stuart Island and went down to Spieden Island to see a bald eagle and some mouflon sheep, then continued home to Friday Harbor.
