Peak Fall Wildlife

Peak Fall Wildlife

October 8, 2026 – Here is a quick report and pictures from an amazing trip. We saw so many different animals. We started with Alfredo the Sea Otter who was all wrapped up in the kelp having a nap. Next we stopped at Green Point on Spieden Island where we saw a Bald Eagle and a few Harbor Porpoise. From there we headed up into Boundary Pass where we encountered 11 Bigg’s Killer Whales. They were spread out and changing directions fairly regularly keeping Captain JB on his toes. After a long dive they came up and the youngest member of the group Nimbus who was born earlier this year did 2 beautiful breaches for us! What a cutie. We also got nice looks at the big boys, 31 year old Galiano and his brother, 25 year old Spouter. Their mother T19 – Nootka, who is now 61 years old was near by. We also had The T49A’s, Nan, Nat, Neptune, Nebula, Smoosh Face & Nimbus and T50B1 and T50D, Blakeslee and Lyrical. We eventually left them as they headed to the Pender Island Shoreline. On the way back to Friday Harbor we checked out the Turn Point Lighthouse, then found Bald Eagles, Mouflon Sheep, Fallow Deer, Sika Deer and Harbor Seals on Spieden Island! What a great day!
